Within dense, restrained pencil lines, the elder’s half-closed eyes and weathered face emerge quiet and resilient.

On warm beige paper, pencil moves in layers of cross‑hatching and firm structural lines, carving rough skin texture and the planar turns of the face. The frame presses in close to the face and neck; eyes are nearly shut and the lips slightly parted, a calm breath tinged with weariness. Light grazes from one side, building volume not through stark contrast but through dense bundles of strokes and measured smudging. Between incisiveness and restraint, endurance and a quiet sense of time surface.
