Study of an Ear

Study of an Ear

Within restrained greys, a single ear in relief emerges under light, its soft and sharp turns as keen as an act of listening.

Graphite is laid with tight, slanted hatching interlaced with gentle wiping, building generous volume and surface. Light from the upper right carves the deepest core shadow in the inner folds, while the block’s cast shadow reaches to the lower left, setting a clean geometric counterpoint against the ground tone. The rectangular base slips in from the right at a slight tilt, pushing the auricle forward between reserve and shade; shifts from hard to lost edges let the form breathe. The mood is quiet and intent, turning the rigor of study into a sensitivity to the shape of listening.
