Sparrow by the Lotus Pond

Sparrow by the Lotus Pond

Amid spacious white mist, a sparrow alights on a pale‑pink lotus petal, its meticulous plumage answering the soft washes to seal a moment of pondside quiet.

Rendered in the gongbi bird‑and‑flower manner, the sparrow’s plumage is finely described with crisp brown‑and‑white contrasts; the lotus petals are washed in faint pink and ink, their edges diffused, a touch of green seedpod revealed. Two slender stalks in pale ink rise on a diagonal, creating a top‑light, bottom‑open composition, while the broad negative space reads as moist morning haze that gathers the eye upon the bloom. The dialogue of sharp and soft, solid and void, holds a poised stillness, as if the next breath might send the bird into flight.
