Carp — Realist Study

Carp — Realist Study

On soft white cloth, a carp lies across the page; its scales gleam cool and moist and its red fins glow, a hyperreal presence that feels within reach.

Executed in hyperreal watercolor, transparent layers interweave gold‑green and leaden gray to model the fish’s volume and wet sheen. Set sideways at the center of rippled white cloth, softened washes shape folds and cast shadows, grounding its weight and presence. The fine edging of each scale and the warm reds against cool blues at the fins and tail give the still life a quiet pulse, as if it lightly breathes.
