Longevity (Shou)

The single character “Shou” is cast in monumental strokes, its long tail sweeping and curling, while the side inscription “Fu Lu Shou Xi” and red seals punctuate the field with auspicious poise.

Brushed in saturated ink, the character is rendered with a monumental hand: heavy horizontals, stored energy at the turns, and a swift, returning finish that leaves streaks of flying white. Set slightly to the right of center, its long tail sweeps leftward in a generous arc, answering the running‑script inscription along the left edge and giving the space a full breath. To the right, smaller characters spell “Fu Lu Shou Xi” in compact, rounded forms, providing a counter rhythm; two red seals punctuate the field and sharpen the black–white structure. The work is charged yet composed, conveying an auspicious calm of longevity and celebration.
