佛梦尘缘

佛梦尘缘

The reclining Buddha sleeps upon a sea of clouds as apsaras and auspicious birds spiral nearby, processions of devotees gather on both banks, and a distant city skyline flickers through haze—worldly ties and a Buddha’s dream set side by side in pencil.

Dense graphite linework and gentle rubbing build layered mists and light, the long composition unfolding from lower left to upper right. Just left of center, the reclining Buddha rests with eyes closed while flying deities, streaming ribbons, and a crane gather into circling arcs; along the lower edge two files of figures with elephants and horses converge, a lone figure stands or kneels on the axis, the gaze drawn toward a river harbor and a far-off city of towers and smokestacks. The sacred and the worldly mirror one another, the counterpoint of stillness and motion shaping a dreamlike resonance that holds the viewer between this shore and the beyond.
