Electric Iron — Design Sketch

Electric Iron — Design Sketch

Restrained pencil lines articulate the iron’s structure and heft, while crisp perspective and delicate shading lend this everyday object a clean, steadfast beauty.

Drawn as a design sketch on a warm-toned sheet, the work uses decisive contours and layered strokes with gentle rubbing to model the turns of metal and plastic, the hollow of the handle, and the thickness of the soleplate. Line weights are disciplined, and visible construction guides emphasize the assembly logic of the forms; the tapered front and broader rear are tightly foreshortened in an oblique view. A small cube at lower left serves as a perspective exercise, echoing the object’s massing and giving the piece a rational, restrained calm.
