九鲤献瑞
Nine vermilion carp swirl and chase across a field of white, their ink-wash glow carrying a continuous current of auspicious vitality.
Executed in ink wash with color, the bodies are built with wet vermilion washes that suggest sheen and volume, while brisk alternations of wet and dry strokes pick out eyes, fins, and dorsal scales. The nine fish loop and ascend in a flowing arc, with pale ink eddies hinting at current and broad reserves of blank paper opening the water’s expanse. The sharp red–white contrast keeps the scene lucid and celebratory, the motion reading as one unbroken surge of life and good fortune. A vertical inscription at the left steadies the composition and echoes its upward rhythm.
